"If I Could Be Anything"

If I could be anything,

what would I be?

But then again, trees can't play.

Don't think I'll be a tree today.

I could chase a ball

and jump a log.

I'd get a pat

for being good,

but I don't think

I'd like the food.

To be a cat would

be quite nice.

I could try to

catch some mice,

then have a sleep

on the mat.

One problem though -

cats can't fly.

Butterflies have lovely wings,

but butterflies can't

dance or sing.

most of all,

I like being

ME.
